Piotr Zjawiony: “The ReQiu startup is an online game for the recruitment process but also for the inside assessments.[…] It is an online game, in which you walk through the virtual office, and based on what you do and how you act in the game, the system gives you answers about your personality.[…] Our startup also supports our clients with different solutions like new tools or personalization.”
How does the ReQiu’s game work?
One of the most interesting questions that pop up when we talk about computer games is “How does it work?”. What happens to the player after starting the game?
Piotr Zjawiony: We measure 6 personal traits like self-efficiency, self-control, creativity, searching for information, problem prediction, and analytical skills. What is unique – we chose those traits from different sectors of psychology and theory because we wanted to find those traits that give the most important information about the person and his skills which can be used in the company. [..] The game is a little bit like the Sims, so you are walking through a virtual office, and you have a few tasks to do – for example, a task called “calendar” in which you prepare your workday […] What is also unique in measurement we making – we measure behavior, how people act […] We concentrate on how people act, what people do, what strategy do they use during the game. Based on that, the system recounts these 6 personal traits.”
How much time the ReQiu’s game takes?
Time in such a game is crucial in the recruitment process. Having multiple job candidates at the same time means that the time for evaluation cannot be too long. How does it look when using the ReQiu game?
Piotr Zjawiony: “The game takes approximately 45 minutes[…] and after that, we have information about the person.”
How did the process of testing the ReQiu’s game look like?
On ReQiu’s website, we can find information that before launching the game, producers tested 2000 people to check how the game works and this whole process took a very long time.
Piotr Zjawiony: “That was a very long process because if we imagine creating a new tool in psychology, we have to go through a validation process, so when we created the game, the next step was to take people to the laboratory in our office and give them the game to play and then we compared it to the currently market questioners measuring for example creativity and we correlate that to the tool measure that we wanted to measure. That kind of session of checking the game and study was over 7 and we measured in online way and in our office even more than 2000 people. That helped us to build the model which now calculates psychological traits.”
